🕺 To review parallel lines and transversals before their test, our Geometry students took on a unique challenge—Dance Dance Revolution style! Each move required them to place their feet in the correct positions to show specific angle relationships. 📣 Give to the Max Day is Coming! On November 21st, UCA will be participating in Give to the Max Day, a statewide yearly campaign to raise funds for your favorite non-profit organizations. UCA will be raising funds for a new bell system that will benefit our secondary students! This will keep our school day running smoothly and create a more organized, efficient learning environment for our students and teachers. 🏅 Congratulations to Petra and Leighton, our UCA Athletes of the Week! 🏐 Petra has been a great leader for our Volleyball program. She had a fantastic senior season, finishing it off with a strong performance in the section playoff game. She also led the team in kills this season. ⚽️ Leighton gave everything he had this year leading the team well as a Junior. He showed strong resilience, fighting against injuries most of the year, but that did not bring him down. Even when his foot was broken, he came through to score two goals in a game. 🇨🇳 🖼️ Our high school Chinese class recently took an exciting field trip to the Minneapolis Institute of Art and the Asia Mall! At the museum, students explored ancient Asian artifacts and artwork, gaining a deeper understanding of the culture and history they’re studying in class. Afterward, they visited the Asia Mall, where they tasted authentic cuisine and experienced some shopping and a vibrant atmosphere of Chinese culture. 🥢🥠🍜 #ucathunder #ucahighschool

The UCA girls volleyball players and coaches recently hosted a clinic for our elementary students. They spent two hours after school learning the basics of the game, going through some drills, and talking about teamwork and good sportsmanship. 🏃‍♂️ Elementary Jog-A-Thon! 🏃‍♀️ Our elementary students laced up their sneakers and took to the track for this year’s Jog-A-Thon! Each lap was filled with excitement, encouragement, and a whole lot of UCA spirit. These young runners pushed themselves and cheered each other on, making it a memorable day of fitness, fun, and fundraising! At UCA, we are passionate about helping students connect their classroom learning to real-life experiences that will help give direction for their life after high school. We recently had a student who is interested in medical sonography shadow for a day at Amnion Pregnancy Clinic in Burnsville. 🤰 In her experience, Taiyah was able to meet and talk to staff nurses as well as assist during a live ultrasound being performed as staff training. 👩‍⚕️ If you know of a business or profession that would allow a student to shadow for a few hours up to an entire day, please connect with our Academic Dean, Mrs. Hohnstadt, at jennie.hohnstadt@ucathunder.org #ucathunder #ucahighschool

📸 Mrs. Palazzo has been known to have lots of fun props for her photography students to take pictures of and practice the different skills they're learning in her class. Today, she outdid herself by having a shiny new Corvette as the prop! 🚗 The students enjoyed the opportunity to bring their lessons to life, practicing framing, lighting, angles, and more! 🏆 ⚽️ We are thrilled to announce that Gracie Hendley has been named to the All-State Team for Girls Soccer in Class A! This is a monumental achievement, as Gracie becomes the first girl in UCA history to receive this honor and only the second player ever from UCA to be recognized at this level. 🐝 Students on their best bee-havior! 🍯 👸 Mrs. Nerdahl’s 4th graders had a sweet and fascinating visit from Mr. Nerdahl, who happens to be a beekeeper! He explained all about bee behavior, the important roles of the queen, workers, and drones, and even showed the students his special beekeeping equipment. To top it off, the students tasted fresh honey straight from the hive! It was a buzz-worthy lesson in nature and teamwork! 🐝🍯 #ucathunder #ucaelementary

🏰✨Miss Anderson’s 1st graders celebrated the end of the quarter with an unforgettable Disney Day! 🐭🌟 Their day was filled with Disney-themed math and writing activities. Students enjoyed crafts, a scavenger hunt, and even “rode a rollercoaster” 🎢 (in the classroom, of course)! It was a magical way to wrap up the quarter! #ucathunder #ucaelementary

🚒 Fire Department Visit! 🔥 Our preschoolers had an exciting day as they invited the local fire department for a special show-and-tell! The firefighters gave the students an up-close look at their gear, equipment, and fire truck, teaching them about fire safety and what it’s like to be a firefighter. 🚒 It was an unforgettable experience, and we are so grateful to our community's brave first responders for taking the time to visit! 👨‍🚒

🌍 Our 6th grade geography class has been giving presentations about different countries. Maleigha’s family has deep connections to Sierra Leone so she decided to take advantage of the opportunity to share her knowledge and experiences. She brought in wonderful examples of jewelry, clothing, and food from Sierra Leone, including wedding attire she wore during her visit, shoes handcrafted by her great-grandmother, and she even treated the class to some traditional Peanut Butter Soup! 🏃‍♂️Our Cross Country team had an incredible performance at this year’s conference meet last Saturday! 🏅 🏆16 out of 19 runners shattered their own personal records. 🏆Nathan D (17:25) and Brennan B (17:29) came in under the previous school record of 17:48. 🏆The Boys Varsity team finished in 2nd place in the team scoring. 🏆Nathan D (7th place), Brennan B (8th place), and Samuel S (12th place) each earned All-Conference Honors. 🏆Allegra D (15th place) earned All-Conference Honorable Mention. 👏We are beyond proud of these athletes' hard work, dedication, and determination. Last Friday marked the year's first meeting for our Kindergarten and 5th grade buddies! The older students teamed up with their younger buddies to introduce themselves and to start building friendships for the year.
