Last Friday, our students participated in Missions Day projects, teaming up with their big/little buddies to serve and make a difference together! From packing meals to creating care packages, their teamwork and compassion were on full display. It’s such a blessing to see students of all ages working side by side, putting their faith into action, and learning the joy of serving others. 💜 Together, the students accomplished: 🦃 Assembling 198 Thanksgiving Bags for military families in collaboration with the "Beyond the Yellow Ribbon Hero Meals Program ❄️ Assembling 450 Winter Care Kits for the Homeless 🎨 Making 200 Craft items/Table Favors for Nursing Home Residents #ucathunder #ucahousesystem #ucamissions

Digging into Learning! 🌱🍪 Mrs. Ray's 3rd graders got hands-on with soil science by creating edible soil layers! Using cookies, crackers, pudding, green sprinkles, and even a gummy worm, they explored the different layers of soil—from topsoil to bedrock. 🗣️ Ms. Luttio had two friends come and talk to her high school Spanish classes recently. Karla is Guatemalan and Jaylyn is a missionary to Guatemala. 🇬🇹 Ms. Luttio met them both through a ministry called Breaking Cycles, which she started working with in 2016. They both talked about the ministry of Breaking Cycles and gave a little bit of their testimonies. It was great for the students to hear Karla only speak Spanish to them and to hear how the Lord has used Jaylyn's Spanish in her everyday ministry down in Guatemala. 🙏 🙌 #ucathunder #ucahighschool

🔬Biology cell-ebration! 🦠 Our biology students wrapped up their comprehensive cell unit with a sweet twist: a cookie decorating competition! 🍪 Students put their creativity to work, either solo or in teams, to design prokaryotic (bacteria) cells or plant cells using frosting and sprinkles. It was a fun and delicious way to reinforce everything they’ve learned about cell structures! 🧬 #ucathunder #ucastem #ucahighschool

Fall Fundraising Success! 🎉 💰 We are pleased to announce that all the pledges have been collected from our Inaugural Jog-A-Thon, and our elementary kiddos raised an impressive $18, 570.24!!! Our initial plans for these funds are to make some much-needed updates to our curriculum. 📚 🏅 Various awards were given to the students for the most money raised, and the most laps run overall and per classroom. We also awarded the "Super Class" title to the classroom that raised the most money on average per student. Congratulations go to Mr. Geselle's 3rd grade classroom! 🏆 Thank you to everyone who supported this event by praying, volunteering, and donating. Our physics students have been diving into the study of projectile motion by designing and building their own catapults. Using principles of velocity, force, and trajectory, they experimented with different launch angles and calculated the optimal conditions to maximize distance and accuracy. #ucathunder #ucastem #ucahighschool

🐷🏠 Our Kindergarten and 5th grade buddies recently teamed up for an exciting STEM project! Together, they designed and built sturdy houses for the Three Little Pigs, aiming to create structures strong enough to withstand the huff and puff of the Big, Bad Wolf. 🤝 🤣 It was a fantastic day filled with creativity, teamwork, and lots of laughter! #ucathunder #ucaelementary

☀️✨ Our 2nd graders have been exploring the fascinating world of light and shadows! They went outside at different times throughout the day to measure their shadow lengths and observe how the position of the sun affected them. 😎 It’s hands-on learning at its best, and the students loved seeing science come to life!

🎳 Our staff headed to the bowling alley last Friday for some friendly competition, where house points and pride were on the line! 🏆 It was a fantastic time for team-building, laughter, and a few strikes thrown in the mix. 📊✨ Our two 5th grade classes transformed their math lesson on decimals into an engaging and interactive project! Each student designed their very own vending machine to incorporate a real-life scenario to practice adding and subtracting decimals. They considered different items, prices, and how customers would use money to purchase snacks or treats, making their math learning meaningful and practical. 🍫🥤To put their creations into action, the vending machines were on display for a day, and then other students and staff from across the school were invited to place pretend orders. This gave the 5th graders the opportunity to test their calculations and experience the fun of running a mock vending machine business, all while reinforcing their decimal skills. It was a fantastic way to combine math with creativity and collaboration! #ucathunder #ucaelementary

🏐 Our incredible 5th/6th grade Volleyball team made history on November 2nd, bringing home UCA’s first middle school trophy! Ranked #4 going into the tournament, they defied the odds with an unforgettable championship win. The final showdown was a heart-stopping 2-1 battle, ending in a thrilling comeback in the last set. With pure determination, they clinched the title with a 16-14 victory, showing true heart and resilience. In a beautiful moment after the game, the team gathered to thank God for this incredible achievement. 💜 A huge congratulations to Coach Berry and Coach Carufel for guiding these players to this proud milestone. 📝✨ Our middle school language arts students explored their creativity through a blackout poetry exercise! 📖 Using pages from old books, they carefully selected words to craft unique poems and “blacked out” the rest of the text to form powerful visual art pieces. Seeing how each student’s imagination brought new meaning to the printed words is amazing! #ucathunder

💃 🕺Our high school students had an opportunity to learn swing dancing from one of our own teachers, Mrs. Diamond, and her husband! Mr. and Mrs. Diamond are often found chaperoning high school events where they have displayed their swing dancing skills. They offered this session to students who had shown interest in learning this fun style of dance from the 1940s. It was a fun evening filled with music, laughter, and lots of learning as they practiced their steps and discovered the joy of swing. ✈️ Behind the Scenes at Delta! ✈️ Our Aviation 2 students had an incredible opportunity to go behind the scenes at MSP with Delta! They explored everything from baggage claim to the deicing facilities and even visited the control room where flights are planned, and gate assignments are made. The highlight? Driving around the tarmac and getting a whole new perspective on the airport! 🧊👩🏼‍🏫Huge thanks to our teacher, Mrs. Brenna Stockman, who works seasonally as a deicer for Delta and made this unforgettable experience possible. #ucathunder #ucahighschool #ucastem
